If you had the opportunity... Would you sell?

I'm wondering if I will sell my 2002 CTD. The information on the new 2011 is coming out slowly and with the full SCR system and the pending Tier 3 (2013) full conversions required I'm wondering if that makes sense?

Financially it doesn't right now but those new crew cabs are nice looking although I have still not seen one up close.

Any ideas?

Diesel Dawgs Performance 09-04-2009 12:57 PM

I don't think I will ever buy another New Diesel Truck. With all the emisssion crap they put on them no thanks.

Wyatt Earp 09-04-2009 01:02 PM

Yeah, but the Tier 3 is a requirement for everything to change - regardless of age.

stkdram55 09-04-2009 01:05 PM

it will sit in the garage and stay there til they realize that crap is not helping nothing

wildbill 09-04-2009 01:09 PM

If any 04 or older trucks are still held up by 2013, it wouldn't even be worth converting them.

Wyatt Earp 09-04-2009 01:15 PM

Perhaps but a new truck will be $60K + by then and an older one will cost around $9K to upgrade.

Captain Call 09-04-2009 01:15 PM

Wait!....what? Tier 3 nonsense is going to affect lil ol me? My hell they've gone too far with this crap. I will absolutly obey their commands. Hahaha yeah right. What exactly is this crap? Who and where are they victims?

Wyatt Earp 09-04-2009 01:22 PM

My point exactly. Run the risk of getting caught or just get a new one and bombs away?

dukeboy_318 09-04-2009 03:16 PM

I aint wasting the time, i highly doubt they retro act it that far back, shoot, when cat conveters came out they didnt make vehicles that didnt have them from the factory put them on, they just made it illegal to take one off. and around here we have no emissions testing, too big of a farming area to worry bout that.

Wyatt Earp 09-04-2009 03:39 PM

The way I understand it, we will be required to do so to get insurance. Those idiot law makers are having the OTR guys do it now - or so I'm led to believe. More controls, less polution but worse economy - doesn't equal more fuel? I don't get that to be honest.

Oh well. It is what it is.

turbo20psi 09-04-2009 04:40 PM

I will keep putting temp tags on mine 30 day rule.F@ck it.I wonder if we can claim that on our taxes, as to to make the plant more green.I deal with this same sh@t with avaition with using 100 low lead gas. Tax this tax that throw the litlle guy under the bus.I need a drink:c::WTF::dbdrama:

Dr. Evil 09-04-2009 05:05 PM

If thats the case - I hate to say it - but I will probably go back to gas.

For me, if the ecomomy isnt there - theres not much sense having a diesel.

:edit::edit::edit:Lets put 9k in the truck and slow it down....not.We all put some work in our trucks no matter how small or extreme.I need a drink:c:

Captain Call 09-04-2009 09:04 PM

Found out the (not my) guvment is making my friends Pete with a3408 illegal. Its bull. They're also making him put numbers on his backhoe. Gee I wonder if our rights are being violated?

dieseldocter16 09-04-2009 09:51 PM

I'm not sure were you're getting this info. :humm: but as far as I know you're truck only has to meet the emmision requirements for the year it was made. :yeah: Tractor trailers and other commerical trucks may be a different story. We are putting ARB #'s on are TCU's at work but that is only for California emmisions and I highly doubt that anybody checks those. It's all a $$$ gimmick.

Captain Call 09-04-2009 10:24 PM

I'm getting this info first hand from a friend who got letters regarding the pete and his hoe. His other 2 hoes, dozer and 2 graders do not "meet the emissions requirement". The "mark of the beast" numbers are "voluntary" as of yet. The only out for the 08 in the pete is it qualifies as a "historical" vehicle but he couldn't use it for what he needs it for. All the guvment is doing is taking the folks that keep this country rolling and making it nearly impossible to live without the guvment.....gee wonder why that is? Hmmm

haha, i had blue paper tags on my jeep when i first bought it but never took it to get real tags. Lucky for me, they faded to red, which just so happened to be the next month's color! Lucky me!:rocking:

Diesel Dawgs Performance 09-05-2009 01:14 PM

If they want me to run that crap then they can pay to have it done.

cumminspwrram59 09-05-2009 01:23 PM

if that is happenin here ill inspect my own stuff and say yea its all there :w2:

shvlhead78 09-05-2009 02:02 PM

I cannot find it saying anything it seems it is more for heavy industry and other diesel engines
