Intermittent Starting

Alright this is driving me nutz. My truck has been having some starting issues so I thought the contacts in the starter were going bad. Replaced the contacts and still have issues. The truck will start ever morning just like normal but if I drive it for a while (30Mins) and shut it off and try to start it right away it starts but if I leave it sit for 10 mins or so the starter just clicks. If I keep trying it will finally start. The longer it sits the better it starts. Now the last couple days I have lost the speedometer and tach but they both come back eventually :argh:
And now the trany is starting to shift weird. It wants to go back and forth between gears at certain speeds. My guess is I'm having some kind of electrical problem. I'll start with grounds but does anyone have any other ideas. Maybe it's time for some new battery cables. I have tested the batterys and they are good even under load:humm:

Clean where all the grounds bolt to the frame or fenders. Might even try and add a ground from the battery to the frame.

I agree its prolly a grounding issue.........also you could have cable corrosion under the shething and not know it...................though to find

while its acting up have you tried to wiggle check for a loose connection?

Thanks guys :c: I'm leaning towards grounding myself but thought maybe someone might have another idea

No I haven't. People look at me funny when I do the wiggle thing:w2: lol
May give that a try also if I clean all my grounds and still have issues. Thanks

other ideas maybe a clutch saftey switch or park saftey switch just a thought.Cant really tell if the other items are effected by the switches...checking the wiring diagram.

Will a auto start in neutral? Never ever tried it I guess. It should, shouldn't it?

so you have an auto tranny?According to the circuit i see in my print the power distribution center that houses the starter relay also supplies the instrument cluster. The 6 gage wire that feeds the PDC might be a good place to check for voltage when its acting up.
