torque converter issue?
my 99 cummins has the famous dodge automatic in it and when it locks the torque converter going down the road it will lock and unlock by itself. no rhyme or reason behind it.
a friend of mine but it on the scanner to see what was wrong and the throttle position sensor had shown bad. replaced the sensor and the problem still persists. any help would be great |
maybe the band need adjusted

A band will not cause this.
Most likely cause, electrical noise. Many have home brewed fixes that are hit and miss at best. The real solution is a DTT noise filter. Before that, pull and clean the battery cables and clean the posts also. They may look clean, but could be the culprit. Other potential causes are the alternator even though it charges fine and even a bad battery cell can be the issue. Dave |
My 98.5 did the exact same thing.
Have the dealer re-flash your PCM and you'll be good to go. |

How much do the DTT noise filters cost and where exactly do they go in the electrical system?

They install back on the passenger side firewall right next to the PCM. it just taps into one of the wires there and then you ground one from the noise filter. Super easy to install. |
lemme know where i can get one of these filters at and how much they are it is extremely annoying at 400 in the mornin on my way to work i heard about wrapping aluminum foil around the ground wire on the alternator and it didnt work so something needs to happen. thanks for all yuns guys help on here
