270k miles, 5 speed, 98.5 truck. VP44 is fine, fuel pressure coming in ~15psi. Just hard to start, but fires up everytime, just takes some cranking. Been slow too start even before the current vp. Always figured bad crank position sensor. Changed that out, same issue.

That and the smoke out the dash on the headlight switch, anyone wanna buy a truck?! :argh:

Is the cranking slow.Ckeck the batterys (load test ).Starter is oringinal.Next time you go to start it cycle the key 4 or 5 times to see if it if starts better . Lift pump new? Just shooting in the dark.:humm: Keep us posted .Valves ever been adjusted?

Do you hear the Lift Pump running if you bump the starter?

Yes can hear th lift pump, and gaugs tells me its good.

Cycling the key does not change anything
Cranks quickly, batteries are good (checking with a voltmeter, while cranking)

Ive never adjusted the valves. Boosts to ~25 psi, pulling 19mpg unloaded, ~13 mpg towing at 75 with 5k pounds, so truck runs good. Heck just pulled 13k pounds for 1000 miles, pulled nicely. Got ~10 at 65mph with that load.

You know that guy, who has wierd issues that never make sense.... yeah, thats me!

Have you checked for codes with a scanner?

might want to check the connections on the starter, and wires on the battery have a good connection, mine did this to me before, all my problem was the connection on the battery and the starter (cleaned the connections, sprayed with wd40 replaced the bolts and washer on the starter and never looked back since then.

O-rings on connector tubes if it's had injectors taken out at any point or a fuel treatment like lucas oil!

Slow starts are almost always weak batteries.
