need some help on this one

okay i have asked many people about this and i cannot get a clear awnser on what to do. i have a 12 valve block laying around needs some machine work done to it but thats about it. i have a craked 53 in my truck. i am planing on building a new motor in a month or two the one thing stopping me there is no hole for a crankshaft postion sensor :madd: how do i get around this one i have got a few solutions but i dont know if they will work. drill a hole in the block and hope i get it in the exact spot it needs to be. get a 01 or 02 ecm and somehow run it so i would not need a crankshaft sensor. or arnt the crank shaft sensors on 12 valves on the harmonic balencer could i somehow use one of them or would the signal be differnt.

Might get lucky and the machine shop can hook you up. If not, going to have to find another block.

Seems like we have another post on this topic in the past but can't remember enough about it to know what to search for it under. It had a solution so it may be worth your time to do some searchin though.

im sure a machine shop could hit the hole the right place...

once you get your crank in there you can clearly see where the hole needs to be. you can also use your old block to help determine where. you will need to find the sensor and measure the o.d. to determine what size drill bit you need. You might also have to drill a tap another hole to make some sort of sensor retainer. i run into the same thing (almost) with my new motor. mine was a 01' and the new motor was a 99'. I had to get a cam gear with a tone ring. Good luck.

i will figure it out somehow i can always find a use for this block if i have to get another one :w2:
