vp-44 hiccup
Hi all, I haven't been on the forum for awile. Afew days ago I started my 99 dodge w/vp-44 and the check engine light came on, so I took it to schucks the next day and hooked up the code reader. the codes were; PO252 and PO251. We cleared the codes and I drove about 20 miles stop and go start ups, and no light came on. I was running 12 to 14 lbs fuel pressure on an airdog 100. Some people tell me to get ready for a new IP. I've heard of many places to get a pump, but which is best and with new computer on IP? Any help would be appriciated. I'm in Tacoma WA. area Thanks Frank

Need more info ... whats the truck doing? I think P0216 is the death code you may have a fighting chance if you dont see that

Might not be good news:
P0251 - is IP Fuel Metering Control "A" Malfunction (Cam/Rotor/Injector) and P0252 - is IP Fuel Metering Control "A" Range/Performance (Cam/Rotor/Injector) Keep driving it until the check engine light reappears or you get more codes. It might be just a hiccup but thats debatable. VP-44s can fail even when they are fed with the proper fuel pressure. |
Thank you. I''ll keep drivin her. Frank:U:

That sucks! Hope it turns out well for you... Its a shame that there isnt a better alternative or that there is nothing offered by Dodge/Cummins as some sort of reimbursement to such a crap design. Similar to the cracking dash, just turn head and act like it never happened! :ph:

Hope it turns out alright, as long as you dont have the dead pedal.:booo:
