Battery Cables/Fuse Block

I have to renew my battery cables, and I figure while I got the tranny out, this would be a good time. Anybody else change things up with these? I dont like that stock lead block on the end.

And I need a good place to mount a fuse block for all the extras, where you guys put one of those?

The lead block is for mass amount of current when you engage the starter. Anything smaller, and you risk frying the starter or terminals. As far as the fuse block, something on the drivers side, near the ABS module??

I will look at the drivers side for clearance.

So if I understand, I shouldn't remove the lead block and put an eye terminal there? The block is gone pretty much, its got cracks and cant be tightened any more.

Nonsense...I converted mine to ring terminals and military battery clamps, which is shown in the pics:

Attachment 52027

I didnt like the Military clamps that good - I have since switched to brass marine style battery clamps (sorry, havent taken any pics yet). I had this setup last winter and it worked good, and I live in quite a cold climate.

These guys carry just about everything you need, have good quality parts, and are cheap:

Heavy Duty, Aftermarket, Custom Battery Cables for your Car, Truck or RV

If you dont want to make your own, they will make them for you. They even have listings for the proper cable lengths for the do-it yourselfers.

what batteries you running and do they stay that clean cuz mine are new and corrode easy.

I mounted my auxiliary fuse block right on top of the fuse block cover under the hood. Just Velcro'd it right to the top of the cover.

If this is for me, the ones in the pic are Group 31's - East Penn (NEVER BUY THEM).

I have switched to group 34/78 Optima Red Tops. No more corrosion.
