oil poll

Who in here is using what kind of oil? In particular does anyone in here have any poor experiance or other with Amsoil? I am about to pick up an '01 with about 115k on her, and have always had good experiance with amsoil in the past.

Uncle Bubba 06-18-2009 10:06 AM

I like AMSOIL and run it in all the gear boxes but I can't use it in the motor oil area, my old truck leaves it layin all over the place. You can tell every parking space i park in for more than 5 minutes if I use any kind of synthetic.

mysterync 06-18-2009 11:33 AM

I run Valv. Blue.
Amsoil Engine oil is fine but I'll NEVER run amsoil gear oil's again. I wont go into detail but I'll say that I've had rearend problems.

ltr450 06-18-2009 01:06 PM

i use amsoil in everything great oil

Heath 06-18-2009 01:53 PM

:w2:

Gear oil...are you for real?? Was the oil tested and shown to be the problem?

mysterync 06-18-2009 01:59 PM

It wasnt Amsoil Related, It was the idiot driving and a bit to much power but the amsoil gear oil i was using was a bit too expensive to replace every 2 weeks lol. I thought I had it fixed twice and used amsoil again...Wrong..... I'm just used to tearing drivetrain componets out on a weekly basis

sidekick 06-18-2009 02:11 PM

use all amsoil lubes engine, diffs, t case, and auto trans

will1am 06-18-2009 02:26 PM

was using rotella and then bought valvoline ....from what i have read i am staying with valv.if i had the cash to blow i would switch to amsoil

kazairl 06-18-2009 03:05 PM

I have AMsoil in everything. Good in just about everything. However my tranny hates it so I'll proabably switch it out for something else after a few more miles.

RedRammer 06-18-2009 03:14 PM

Mobil 1 in engine.... Amsoil in the rest. If you hear Royal Purple, stay away... very far away.

DB Admin 06-18-2009 03:18 PM

Amsoil in everything but engine , mobil delvac super 1300 since the day i got it

cummins army 06-18-2009 05:17 PM

i run delo in engine and royal purple in the rear end and what ever the dealer puts in the tranny. but i will say with delo i get better fuel milage over any thing else i have ever put in it.

redneck_cummins 06-18-2009 06:17 PM

I run Shell Rotella T 15w-40 with Lucas Oil Stabilizer:U:

Captn_tyler 06-18-2009 08:58 PM

I run Rotella in the motor, I am in the same club as Uncle Bubba. Redline in the 6 spd and trans case. Right now Valvoline in the Diffs.

94cummins12v 06-18-2009 09:04 PM

using valvoline full synthetic threw every set of gears in the truck including power stearing

dieselsmoke74 06-18-2009 09:56 PM

amsoil is a great lubricant, i used to use rotella in the engine but it seemed to get thin to quick so i changed to valvoline and i like it much better....:ok1:

Bosshogg 06-19-2009 06:09 PM

John Deere Plus 50 in the engine, amsoil in the trans, and valvoline in the transfer case. going to cheaper stuff for the tcase cause it bleeds everywhere. Cant stop it for some reason. Valvoline full syn in the rearends too, but thats due for a change so it will probably get deere stuff...

oklahoma_6speed 06-19-2009 06:29 PM

valv blue here to.. i like it alot....

Johnny Z 06-19-2009 09:45 PM

AMSOIL!!! THE SHIT WORKS......IT'S IN EVERY VEHICLE MY FAMILY HAS,INCLUDING MOWERS. THE ONLY EXCEPTION IS REDLINE MT-90 IN MY NV4500. PLUS AMSOIL IS MADE IN THE USA

AMSOIL in everything here. And my whole block is now running it too. Quieter running engines diesel and gas, as well as better mpg's.

Mopar1973Man 06-20-2009 07:34 PM

Petroluem all the way...

Exxon XD-3 15W-40 in the engine.
Fleetguard Oil Filter and Frantz By-Pass filter
Supertech Outboard 2 Cycle Oil in the fuel tank (128:1 Ratio - 100K miles on my VP44!).
Fleetgaurd Fuel Filter(Stock filter) and AirDog (2 Micron Filter)
Mobil One in the front and rear diff's 80W-90.
Mopar Trans Fluid for the 5 Speed.
Mobil One ATF in the the transfer case.
SuperTech Power Steering fluid (No wintertime whine).

I pull 21-23 MPG with this... :w2:

Diesel Dawgs Performance 06-20-2009 07:41 PM

Yeah but your just a freak of nature the way you get the mpgs outta your truck. I am sure the stick helps. I have been in the 19's with mine but I don't drive very nice either. Mixed towing and driving was at 16 last fill up. Even after racing all night and towing the horses around I get 14.

It seems that cummins are better than strokers when it comes to amsoil, but I like the sounds of that. I think I am boing to run Amsoil and try it, maybe just keep a close eye on how much she uses of what she has in her right now, but if I waste a little, oh well. I don't quite have the thing bought yet

BTW, thanks for all of your advice. I can't wait to get out of this stupid PowerChoke Ive been driving for the last year and a half

01quadcab 06-21-2009 12:27 AM
