When was the last time you had the system serviced??

sounds like a vaccum problem. there is a door flap that controls how much heated air or cooled is put out through the air ducts, to me it sounds like when you use your brakes, your vaccum is dropping too much and causing the door to swing towards the hot side. you need to check and make sure the line is connected at the vaccum pump, if that doesnt work, you may try testing the vaccum output of the pump.

ac condensor fan took a dump on you. same thing happened to me. let your truck idle, and turn the ac on. the fan should kick on, if it doesnt, time to replace or install a electric fan like i did.

when you start to move, air flows through the ac radiator and lets it cool. when you stop no air is moving. thermodynamics. or try watering down the radiator with a garden hose. it should cool it down real fast.

with your truck at idle can you hear the a/c clutch clicking in and out? If so your most likely low on refrigerant. If the clutch is staying engaged, I'd say trouble shoot IAW the posts above. Does it seem to matter if your on max a/c or not?
