Injector and head gasket Q's

I had noticed the other day that i was coming up the hill on a semi warm day (75 ) and i was under full boost, and when i let off, i looked down to find my coolant temps around 200*, it dropped' within 10-15 seconds back down to 190' where the thermostat opened up.

This has now been going on any time under boost...

Head gasket failure ? or just normal heating up ?

ALSO

i am looking to get a nice thread going of all the peoples' how-to stuff

I'm looking for

Injector replacement.

and head gasket replacement

Thanks in advance !

COuld be normal, or a slight leak.

Are you using or losing coolant? Any mixing of oil and water?

Most likely, it's just heating up before the thermostat can open. This would also point to the need for a new T-stat if the temp then drops below 180* after the heat event.

i'll have to look into it a little more, i just replaced it with a napa'T-stat. before i knew i should have gotten a Cummins T-Stat.

Not loosing any collant, and no mixing in the oil,

I had problems with the aftermarket t-stat also samething temp rise to 200 then fall, replaced it with a cummins more of a constant temp of 190.:ok1:

if you go to change your headgasket do studs and o-ring it so you don't have to mess with it later. But if your not using coolant and not mixing in oil run it. Mine does same thing but I haven't changed my stat in 2 years or so it's about time to though.

make sure your crankcase breather has not plugged up your radiator. Look from the engine side forward at the radiator.
