mecanical fuel pressure gauge isolater question
Is there a way to refill the the isolator? if so what how do you do it and what do you use?

the isolators are JUNK ... all of them are the pancake and cylinder style , you will always be fighting them , either run fuel directly to your gauge or get an electronic FP gauge

I run an industrial style liquid filled 30psi gauge into my cab by teeing off right before the injection pump with no problems for the past 2 yrs.My airdog 150 runs higher pressure(15-18psi) and no leaks so far and pressures stay pretty consistent.

Some isolators are junk. With literally thousands of ours sold, we have had failure rates of less than 5 pieces.
Many guys do not want fuel in the cab. I ran a -3 braided line for years myself until the gauge started leaking and ran fuel into the pillar and onto the carpet. So, I respect the isolator now. Truth is, there's more people worried abo0ut cleaning up a diesel mess than those that aren't. We do see lot of failure with the pancake style isolators however. Dave |
I have an isolator on my guage and knock on wood i havent had any problems for 4 yrs. I put a 50/50 mixture of antifreeze in mine, took a couple of times to get it completly full and it reads exactly the same pressure as another guage that i tapped in at the pump to check its accuracy.

in less than 2 years i went threw 3 cylinder and 2 pancake isolators , so i bit the bullet and got an electronic FP gauge .

I think an electronic fuel pressure gauge is the best way to go. I have been thru a couple of isolators on my mechanical gauge and it was a real pain to figure out what was going on, if It was actually losing fuel pressure, or if my gauge was bad, or the isolator.

If it were napalm I were running into the cab I'd worry about it,but thankfully it's just #2,I don't use an isolator.
