Ed i found your problem..... too many valves.....

dude that sux for sure..... i'd be looking for a new motor to set in there and then piece together a monster motor with that one....

Caused that? Why did it drop 2 exhaust valves?

Yep , Ed seems to be something wrong!
You might want to relocate those valves that are in the piston into the head?
