Easiest/Cheapest/Most recomended mods...
 

I was wondering if these trucks have any mods that you can do inexpensively or even free? For example with the 12v you can modify the fuel plate by grinding it down or whatever...do these trucks have anything like that. Anything that can just be done in my garage? If not what are some mods that can be done inexpensively. I'm really wanting more power and fuel mileage but I just don't have the funds to buy the fancy programmer or intake or other things like that. $h*t is just way too expensive for these damn trucks. Dropped the first $1800 on the injection and lift pumps. Just have been able to repair not modify. So anyone have any suggestions? Thanks...

Most recommended mod on the VP44 equipped engines is a fuel pressure gauge.

That's a given. But that's not the kind of mod I meant. A guage isn't going to give me power or fuel economy. I do agree a guage is important though. Thanks, but I'm looking for something else.

BHAF under 100 bucks for the mod.. more air is always better

Always keep in mind that every mod you make to increase power is going to lead to the next mod to fix the next part that the increase breaks down. Mods are a chain reaction, each one leads to the next.:ouch:

Yeah I was thinking about a BHAF. How would you compare a BHAF to like an AFE intake or other similar intakes?
And I'll keep that in mind Bubba. I don't plan on making this a race truck or puller necessarily. It's maily work truck for hauling stone and maybe an occasional fun time. I'd definetely like it bring it alive a little more, but carefully, it's got an auto tranny and it's a work truck. I've got to have it for work.

Exhaust, air intake, RV275 injectors, Pyro, boost and fuel pressure guage is as far as I would suggest going. This is assuming that you have beefed up the fueling system with a good pump and i would also suggest checking the exhaust manifold over very carefully. Almost every one of the stock ones are cracked and you lose a good amount of boost/power through those cracks.

The BHAF will work great and be just as good as an aftermarket setup and you can get an outwear for the BHAF to make it last longer.

Where is the best place to buy a BHAF? Also any other input anyone?

AH1141 I believe is the fleetguard part# Go to any auto parts store and they will be able to cross reference that filter part # to the brand they carry.
You might want to look into getting an aftermarket fuel sys. like an airdog. Not exactly cheap, but it will save you from replacing more injection pumps in the future!
