Oily Breather
Hello, All. The truck in my sig has just turned 297,000 miles. I recently towed a trailer gross of 14,000lbs to Colorado and back. I noticed my front axle is a bit wet with motor oil as well as the oil pan just under the breather tube. Question:Does maintaining 25-30lbs of boost pressure on steep grade climbs or remote exhaust braking on the backsides of steep grade have anything to do with it? This oil underneath is a new development. Thanks!

You either have blow-by or you vacuum pump is pressurizing the crank case. How do your vents work? If all it does it blow out of the defrost your vacuum pump needs rebuilding.

Oily Breather
Thanks for the response. My vents are working properly. I'll check for blowby. As I mentioned, the spot of oil on the ground is a new thing. May just be time.
