What's the best alternative for nv4500 oil?
Stock nv4500 243xxx miles just drained it but can't figure out what oil to get. Cant afford to pay $41 a quart from local stealership. Any suggestions?? Also black oil on bottom inside of case.

They no longer make the Castrol syntorque. I just replaced mine with Mobil Delvac SAE 50wt GL-4. It has made my shifts easier and temps run about the same.

Thanks but. Already ordered some fluid from quad 4x4should be getting here tomorrow can't wait to try it out I've read good things about it!
What fluid did you order?
I believe it's rebottled redline 75w-85 in quads own packaging says it supposed to exceed or meet the specs for the nv4500.
I use Valvoline synchromesh it's GL-4,GL-5 MTF. I have also tried royal purple but didn't like it.
Its usually available at NAPA or those other guys lol.
Yeah the main thing is to make sure its a GL-4 rated gear oil.

I have for engine oil (in my charger and my old Silverado) and currently running it in my rear axle Royal Purple 75W95 with LSD additive. I haven't had any issues out of it and can feel in my head that the vehicles seem a little happier, but that's just more of a subconscious thing.
Just got the oil in and filled it up there's a noticeable difference in shifting feels better and smoother now (run around the block) I just need to service my rear diff what fluid could I use on it its a limited slip and from what I can tell I don't think it's ever been serviced I was amazed when I checked it that it had about 2/8 of diff fluid in it yikes!!
Brand doesn't really matter just get a 75W95 or a 75W140 (if you tow heavy a lot). And make sure it has an additive for LSD. When I changed mine the first time it felt like I had an increase in torque. When you go to put it back on just use some permitex or how ever you spell it. And get all the old gasket off the housing and diff cover.

I got valvoline synpower 75w-140 since they were all out of 75 95 says limited slip and also some mega black gasket stuff it's like the permatex pretty I think it is. Only able to get three quarts since that's all they had left in the mean time I'll just buff the cover down and repaint I pull a cattle trailer around unloaded just scrap steel in it sometimes would this oil affect much for regular driving ?
3 quarts should be all you need unless you have a bigger than stock diff cover.
That's Great might even go outside in a bit and fill my diff up shoudl the 75w-140 be good for regular driving or should wait till they get 75w-95
You should be fine.

Awesome man thanks for the advice as well as jet a fuel! Let Ya know how it runs after I fill it up soon! And btw I noticed you have a bhaf from your sig are there any pros or cons to it? (Besides turbo spool)
Pros= better filtration and filter life, ease of install
Cons = none. I don't run with a heat shield and still don't have intake temp problems. It plugs right into the stock intake tube. You can get one for roughly $60 or less. If you like spool sound it will make it louder but it is still not over bearing. There is no hp gain to be had with any filter whether it be BHAF or high dollar aftermarket intake. The stock box can support up to 500 hp IIRC. But it does take a slight breathing load off the engine in my opinion. |
That's sweet I'll have to get me one i think autozone might have wix paper filter I'll have to check it out in a bit thanks man!
