More Fuel System Problems

The 2001 Ram 2500 (all stock) I just got came with what seems to be the typical fuel system problems.
Truck looses power intermittently especially at hiway speeds. Feels like the I have taken my foot off the throttle. Once this symptom occurs, it will persist until there has been a significant period of shut down. On the next start cycle the problem may or may not occur.

Thus far, I have purchased a fuel pressure gauge from Geno's Garage, which confirmed that the lift pump was supplying low fuel pressure (6 psi @ idle, 3.5 psi @ WOT). I replaced the stock lift pump with a FASS DRP. The FASS pump is supplying 18 psi @ idle, and 15 psi WOT under full load.
Before I condemn the VP44 injector pump, and spend $1500 I don't really have, any suggestions.

you should ask this question in the 24v section. but does sound like it could be the vp44 or the APPS sensor. what codes does the truck have?

To supply an update, I moved the gauge from the fuel filter, to the schrader valve on the IP. Pressure are 15 psi @ idle 13 psi WOT unloaded, 10 psi WOT under load. When the truck went dead pedal, pressure was about 13 psi, and rose to 15 psi before the engine resumed supplying power. This truck though it only has 89,000 had no maintenance for the past three years, other than additives being added to the fuel. The previous had interesting ideas on additive mixtures. often adding other refined oils to his fuel mixtures.

Initially there were 2 codes, P0382 Glow plug/heater circuit B, and P0112 intake air temp circuit. I found a loose connection on the relay of circuit B (2) and cleaned the IAT, which was heavily carboned. Neither of these codes have returned, with the truck having at least 150 start cycles, and having driven over 800 miles since reset.
