01 dodge ram 2500 4x4 24 valve Cummins 5-spd
 
:sos: Hello everyone can someone tell me if I put a 245 hp vp-44 pump on my 01 dodge cummins 5-spd will it work I getting mixed info they are telling me I have to go back with a 235 hp pump what the difference

Ive always heard there is more potential in a SO pump vs the HO pump.

you have a 235 most likely. the 5 speeds where not usually HO motors. if it has an SO you have to go back with an SO. the HO pumps do not work well on an SO truck. the SO pumps work on either

It's not worth it. The VP44 in the H.O trucks was designed to work the larger injectors in the H.O trucks. I would seriously doubt you would see any difference in power. I recommend going with a Hot Rod VP44. With a set of upgraded injectors you will notice a big difference.
