Help! Truck shutters while shifting into overdrive!
Right after my truck shifts into overdrive it will shutter pretty good until I give it extra fuel then it Will go away. The shutter is much worse when I'm going up a hill right after I switch it into overdrive but if I hit the accelerator quick it'll go away. It only does this in overdrive, not at a certain rpm either. The speed is usually somewhere between 45-60 mph. Is this my tq converter saying adios?

I have the same issue but only when the truck is tuned out of stock form. And only when its in the torque band (1200-1600 RPM) and is boosted over 10-12 PSI. Do you have any mods on your truck? If not you could have an issue with the OD unit.

Yeah I have a comp box. It's strange

Now don't quote me but I think it may have something to do with the valve body too. I have no data to support. But if my spidey senses are correct, trying to cram that much torque through something that can barely handle stock, it has a hard time possibly with getting enough pressure to go like it needs to. This is all speculation no data or research to back it up.
But I noticed a few months ago, if I get the RPM over 1600, that I could boost as much as I wanted with no jump from the trans. |
Disregard all previous posts. I found the solution to the problem. Change your Diff fluid. I changed mine yesterday with some Royal Purple and it no longer happens. When the old stuff came out it was dark as night.

So changing differential fluid fixed it from jumping in and out of overdrive I dont see how

What I was talking about was under load it would start bucking in OD. What you are talking about is alternator related. The alternator ac noise causes the TC to lock and unlock. Fixes for that include a new alternator.

Alternator and then what from there
|
There are many threads across the internet about the ac noise from the alternator. Rather than butcher it, look it up on google and you will find a lot of information. The best I have seen so far is Moparman's guide.

Thanks
