bad credit killing my cummins dreams :(

So I've found a few decent trucks, one I especially wanted was $10,995 (01 5.9HO w 230k, s&b, big ram, mbrp 4" strait, tuner, rebuilt trans and engine... had some blow by tho) but even with $2k down their bank wouldn't work the deal... is it my credit or are older cummins just hard to get financing for? Becoming very discouraged and ready to say screw it and keep driving my Chevy gasser

Try talking to a credit union. My credit was virtually non-existent (I'm only 21, and have just had a low-limit credit for three years) and I got a 2.49% rate for a 10k loan on a 12,500 dollar '99 Ram 2500. All the banks I spoke with just laughed me off, or offered rates upwards of 10%.
Also, apparently demand is way different where you are, because in Oregon, you don't find an HO Ram for less than 15, period.

Yeah my credits not so good (in the 500's) I'll definitely see if a credit union can help, I make plenty so payment amount isn't such an issue and interest rates I know will be high as hell but I planned on stacking payments... more or less want to finance to get my credit back on track with some good payment history. I'll throw in some pics of that truck, and if they really just rebuilt the motor there shouldn't be any blow by right? Or do fresh diesels have a little till broken in? I know gas engines will smoke a little for the first few hundred miles

Could also be the year of the truck, banks and certain credit unions don't like to finance older vehicles due to they claim more liability

Yeah, I just gave up. Figure since I'm at my folks house for now it's a good time to clean up my credit. Then I'll be able to get a truck

I agree on the year of the truck. Not many banks finance stuff that old. That said, I bought an '85 f250 diesel a few years ago and the guy had a bank note on it. I paid the bank directly and then he had to add money to it to get rid of the truck.

Banks up here are a little different though.

Gotta say in my opinion credit score is killing 500s is pretty low man my truck is an 01 my credit Union had no problems loaning me full value of the truck but my credit score is upper 600s they actually were willing to loan full value and the tax on the truck

That seems a tad steep. Not great but there is worse.
