Egt and boost question

I believe my truck has a hx35 turbo on it its a 2001 HO 24v 6 speed what is some good and cheap way to get more boost and be able to battle egts? (Note: im not looking to replace the turbo just ways to make my stock one better.) thanks.

You can get a boost cooler for the turbo.
BEWARE: over 35 psi from that turbo will do no help. It turns into a hair dryer (blows hot air)

Will a j-hook from bullydog do any good for it?

Just-Another-Dieselguy 11-10-2014 12:44 PM

The j-hook is designed for hy turbos, with you stating that you had an hx, I would go out on a limb and say no.

If your truck came from the factory with an automatic transmission then it has a hy charger, then it would work

Well durn is there anything else i could do?

Just-Another-Dieselguy 11-10-2014 08:53 PM

Does the truck have a tuner?

Pinch off the wastegaste line is the cheapest, easiest way for more boost, but it's also the least controllable.
The Banks Big Head Wastegate actuator safely increases boost, but comes at a cost.
A boost elbow will give a few more psi, and is relatively cheap.

Like RAW said. You can pinch off the wastegate but not recommended. Adjustable boost elbow would be the cheapest way. Its not dangerous like pinching off the wastegate.
