Injector Pump Change Mishap!
 

I'm a newbie here and a newbie to diesel engines but after riding by my truck at a "buddy's" house for a week and a half I decided to change the pump myself. I watched the youtube video and went to work, unfortunately I failed to recall the part on the video that said the pump was bolted to the block and when I continued turning the puller I pulled the gear into the timing housing cover distorting it ever so slightly.......creating an oil leak around a bolt hole. I removed the cover ( and various things to get to the cover), straightened the distortion on the press and reinstalled the cover and crank seal using grey permatex on the cover. Thank God the leak stopped!

Did you get her running yet?

I did Kerley, fired it up yesterday with no leaks. My power problem still exists thought after changing the injector and transfer pumps.
I'm having a 4 inch straight pipe put on tomorrow and I'm installing a new K&N housing and filter this evening. If the low power under tow is still there I guess it's tuner time.

Dang. When my dad and I did mine we were unaware of that bracket too. Glad we caught it before that happened though. Glad you were able to fix it.

Tuner will wake this sleepy giant up.
