'01 TRANSPLANT ISSUES/CONCERNS

I have an '01 Dodge in which I pulled the V-10 out, and I am in the process of putting an '05 Cummins 5.9L in. Automotive computer guys tell me that there is no way that this engine will ever run in this truck because the '01 was ran by cables whereas the '05 was ran by computers. The particular guy I spoke with who is suppose to be an expert in the field of automotive computers told me that unless I had the '05 dash, all of the wiring, relays, modulators, and fuse box from the original '05 truck in which the engine came out of, the engine and truck would never communicate and never run. Just short of building new wiring harnesses for this transplant, does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do?
Thanks in advance, DaBomb

I think your guy is right, you will need a computer from the 05 to run the motor. and I am pretty sure you will need to transplant the electricals as well. I think in the end you will end up with an 05 trapped in a 01's body. But bare basics you will need a new computer...V-10 wont run any Cummins.

Yes you will have to have all the computer stuff. And the throttle stuff to make it roll. It's possible. Call destroked I'm sure they have a stand alone controller:tu: or Instead of keeping the pain in the a$$ vp44. P pump swap and be done. All mechanical

Called De-stroked, and they sent me to GOS Performance. The guy at GOS is making me a new ECM harness along with an ECM that will make the engine a stand-alone unit, while still being able to be plugged into the '01 truck's wiring harness. All I have to do is get a gas pedal and sensor from a wrecking yard, do the swap, plug it all in, and it should run. He says he does it everyday, so we'll see. I'll let anyone interested know what happens, but I didn't think it was impossible. Race cars run engines, transmission, and bodies with no definitive manufacturer, and they make them all communicate with each other. Just need to talk to the right person. Thanks for the help.:jump:
