Bad vp44 ??

Hey guys so this all started with a slight loss of power in first gear, no matter how far I pushed the peddle it would take off slow then would take off and as long as I kept in to it it would hold power. Now about 2 weeks later I have now power at all till about 3rd in the top end of the gear. But if I let the rpms go too low I have now power. Long story short my truck has no power at all unless I can get high rpms. Took the truck to my trusted mechanic and he thinks it's the vp going bad but he needs to test it. Just trying to get some input and see if anyone knows for sure. It throws a map sensor code so I on know what that's about. The vp and lift pump are about a year old the lift lump is new and replaced but still like the stock one. I do have a low fuel pressure light that I know works and I haven't had it go off at idle or wot. Any help would be great thanks

I would say transmission problems.

I have 1999 24 valve 2nd generation and with my experience when lift pump dies shortly after the vp44 will die and truck don't start at all. Have replaced 2 vp 44's then I installed a low pressure light. Have since replaced 3 lift pumps about a year apart on those. So yes I would go with trany problems rather than a vp44
