VP44 Question

So I had my HTT62/12 installed and gained all of maybe 15hp with more air. I have stayed at a consistant 370-385 hp through all my mods. I have real good fuel pressure but just can't seem to put it to work so to speak. I finally found my way around the de-fueling only to find that it is possible that I am just not getting consistant fuel. When on the dyno there was little or no smoke, I understand that with more air it will run cleaner. However, on the way home after I bombed my husband with no work at all. I am beginning to believe that the vp44 is not working consistanly causing fuel issues. :humm: Does this sound feasible or am I off my rocker? I refuse to put 1 more cent into mods (aka bigger stix) until I figure this out. :argh: I now get the same hp as I was getting when I first purchased the truck 1.5 years ago with only a small chip on it. My sig lists all my mods, any and all ideas are welcome.

well even whit that turbo u should make dark pitch black smoke,i got 100hp sticks whit a superB,edge comp and hyperpac ...while this turbo is smaller that ur htt i make tons of smoke at will and i must manage my right foot else i will always smoke too much...
ur not getting fuel to the sticks....
what is ur fuel pressure at WOT???
if ur fuel pressure is ok at wot the problem might be somewhere else..did u have any code on ???

What are your egts like?Whats your boost? It could be you dont have enough fuel to get full use of the charger.....

I dont see any fueling upgrade....I too am curious about your fuel pressure at WOT?

Diesel Dummy 04-28-2008 07:21 AM

i had the same setup with an HTT upgrade on my stock hx with only rv275's instead of 90's with with water and edge juice (hot) and i made 360 with out water and 410 with it, something is definately wrong, what is the edge reading for fuel PSI, check the led to make sure they are scrolling, this will guarantee your pump tap is working. Sorry I forgot that when I was first having the de-fueling issue we put in a Carter pump thinking that maybe the stock pump wasn't pulling enough. This was before I found out that it is common occurance to have the TM issues. The lowest my pressure went was 16 which I don't think is too low but what do I know I'm the one asking the questions.

I'd GUESS it's probably your VP,but have you tried resetting the APPS?
I'd do some checking before replacing the VP.
Mine was gutless and I got passed by a Titan pulling the same sized trailer up a hill, that was the last straw!
New VP and all better.

Could be your VP or could be your ECM Do you know anybody who would let you swap there ECM and let you dyno to see if it is the problem. I just replaced my VP and picked up 43 hp. and am having the same problem you are having. I pulled my injectors and am having them check to see if that is the problem if not I am going to replace the ECM some seem to limit the HP you can make. Good Luck

Evil,

Look closer, Juice (HOT), Smarty, 90 HP Sticks...

My guess is the APPS is screwed. Reset it and see if that works. If not Adjust it correctly.

i think he was refering to a pusher pump like an Airdog. but then she stated that she has a Carter pump.
