Okay, here is where I am at folks.
I am at the point where I have gone off the edge so I have now poured enough money in this truck that I am keeping it forever. It is off now getting new rockers, cab corners, fenders and I have a 100% rust free bed and tailgate for her when she gets home. She finally runs pretty much like I want her to but she rolls way more smoke than I like, even with the EJWA-CTS turned down to 1 on low boost response its a complete blackout until spooled up. She also runs way hotter than I think she should. Empty running 75 down the interstate she runs about 750-900 at 0-5 psi of boost. pulling a hill she will hit 1250 at 8-10 boost and if I slap WOT to pass she runs up to 30-35 pounds of boost (very quickly) before she hits the 1350 alarm temp and defuels. Fuel pressure is steadily in the upper teens to mid 20's running and down to low teens at WOT. She has a fresh tranny build, all new internals, reworked valvebody and increased line pressure with a new tripple disk converter (2 weeks ago) and the tranny is super tight, so I know its not a tranny slipping or converter issue. I am thinking that I have too large of an injector for the amount of air the turbo is pushing but I see guys talk about running bigger injectors with similar setups without issue. I also wonder about the EJWA at times because all the SMARTY guys talk about having no black smoke issues and they credit that to the smarty tuning vs others.

My biggest worry is the egt's. If they are that high running empty in 60 degree temps, what are they going to be like when its 100+ with a full bed pulling the 30ft camper?

Any ideas, opinions, or bashing? feel free to call me an idiot, I'm married so I am used to it. :phy:

no more electronics.

hybrid turbos are junk by themselves unless you want to use it in twins...

IMO: a set of DFI 7x.010 injectors and a S472 would really wake your truck up and clean up its act quite a bit.


sure they are larger injectors than you have now, but you would be amazed at how much cleaner quality injectors can run...
