241 transfer case no neutral?

I seem to be having no end of troubles with this truck this month. I noticed my front driveshaft spinning and was curious as to why, got under the truck and the front driveshaft attempts to turn the rear in 4L N 2h 4h if you turn it by hand. Figuring it might just be locked up, I hopped in the truck, backed it up a little bit, popped the transmission into N, put the xfer case in N, put the trans into R then N then D 2 1, then back up. No matter what I do I can't get it to actually go into neutral and the front always attempts to turn the rear if turned by hand. I have another xfer case sitting on my bench and it doesn't do that at all. Is this one pooched? Fixable? Or just going to have to pull the input shaft out of this one and put in the manual one I got on the bench and stuff it in? -Thanks for the help.

can you tell if it goes.into 4wd the front will spin by design even when not engadged although it will not necessarily transfer power it turns by the fluid runing through the t-case also check your linkadge to the t-case if its bent it wont engage or disengage

Yea, linkage was first thing I checked. Goes into 4wd easily, just wont disengage in 2 or N. The vaccum drops to the front end but the driveshaft spins with force. Rather not have the thing wearing out needlessly. I have two other cases and neither will spin the front drive if the case is in neutral. Maybe shift fork is worn and causing it to catch?

SOB. I just went out again and looked at it and sure enough, damn thing is bent. I was looking at the transmission shift linkage before :argh: . Well.. problem solved! Thanks!
