1999 cummins fuel problem
I just bought me a 1999 5.9l 24v cummins. it has fuel problems and I have no idea what the problem is. it has a air dog lift pump, adrenaline chip, 180 horse injectors, south bend double disk clutch, and a locking posi rear end. but anyways when I get on it, it starts sputtering and acts like its gonna run out of gas. the fuel pressure drops to like 11 psi but from what everyone has told me that doesn't sound low enough to make it sputter?? sometimes it dies but starts right back up. runs excellent other than that. any ideas, or if anyone knows what I could do to try to fix it would be greatly appreciated. thanks
I don't know a whole lot about lift pumps, or chips I usually keep my stuff stock.
From what the guy told me the fuel filter is right next to the air dog and he said he just changed it. I'll change it just to be sure.
It smokes black a lot when you turn the chip up, but from what I understand that's not abnormal for 180 horse injectors and a adrenaline chip? The turbo i dont know if it's stock it's a HOLSET turbo the number on it is 12A9R

It should have a little metel plate tag on the turbo i bet its a hx35 but it sound like to much fuel on the top end it sounds like it needs a turbo upgrade to me.when did he put the 180hp sticks in ?
I just bought the truck from a friend, but he bought it a year ago an it ran fine. It started doing this 4 months ago. He don't know when the injectors were put in, but atleast a year ago. A stock turbo could cause your truck to sputter and de fuel? Or atleast act like it's running out of gas?

On the highway it sputter when the turbo starts the boost, it does good if u keep but boost between 10-15 psi and it sputters every time at 30 psi of boost
