Two things is your truck a H.O and have you checked yourr apps voltage through the entire throw of the sensor?

zach2 02-24-2014 08:14 PM

Yes. My truck is an H.O. Unless they put a S.O. pump on in '05 when my factory pump went out. Dodge replaced it under warranty. And, no, I haven't checked my APPS. I swapped the factory for a Timbo APPS a few years ago. Reckon I should consider checking it?

lilmike1540 02-24-2014 08:22 PM

Well i really dont think its going to be faulty since you swaped with timbo but 9 years on a vp pump is pretty dang good im wondering how long and what setting do you run your comp on im almost pointing to a vp pump especialy if it was just a standard rebuilt pump meaning that the pump probably didnt have the steel sleave installed for the piston to slide aginst and who knows what computer they put on if its the pump i would run it until she goes but its scary cause you never know when she will go boom i just spent 1300$ on a bluechip vp this morning cause mine finaly went boom

I'm sorry about THAT! I run my Comp on 5x5 and I putt around most of the time. I checked for DTCs a few weeks ago, and none showed. And would a failing pump allow it to run so well when pushed hard?

lilmike1540 02-25-2014 06:16 PM

Well it all has to do with when and where the pump.would have finaly wore out meaning if the pump spends most of its time around 1700-2000 rpm witch is most trucks it would wear out more quickly in the spot in the pump that could be the reason you dont notice it when pushing it there are vp diagrams that i will look for to show you what i mean and also my pump didnt throw any codes until about a monh ago and i got ...the....po216 :scare2: lol

I can understand what you mean about the pump wearing at a speed it spends most of it's life at. Thanks again for all of your help! Still, that's not good news! Haha I suppose I'll save up for another pump. What did you like in the Bluechip?

lilmike1540 02-26-2014 09:05 PM

They seem to have a good warrenty and thats all they do i looked at a bunch of them though

zach2 02-27-2014 04:46 AM

I read about them yesterday. I liked what I read too. Thanks again.
