Sleeping in my truck over night in the winter any tips ?
Hey guys. I got a haul I have to do on Friday and I'm getting paid for it so I'd like to keep costs down by sleeping in my truck(I've done it before in warmer weather it's not that bad). I'm going to be high idleing it all night and I'll probly run an auxilary 110 heater off of an inverter. Any tips to keep my egts up? And any other tips for sleeping in the truck ??

Block off the rad with cardboard to help keep the engine warm.
Set an audible alert on your EJWA for fuel level and coolant temp, so you don't run out of fuel or over heat. I'd be cautious of the 110V heater and inverter. It would suck to run the batteries dead, or burn out a starter. I wouldn't go any hotter than a 500W heater. Is the truck's heater not enough? |
just run your trucks heater and let it 6-cyl high idle all night. use the high idle switch and IAT/ECT fooler.

Just one or two nights? Do as they mentioned above, and I would just make sure I had plenty of blankets or a good sleeping bag to bundle up in.

Does it matter what setting the ejwa is set at ?

keep it on timing only. don't need extra fueling for idling...

What setting is timing ?

If any one is wondering how it went, it went well . I got a good sleep in the truck. Even slept in 2 hours. I put my trans in 6th and t-case in neutral. , i had a fire proof blanket with me so I pluged the stack that was on the side my head was on. I thought that would keep egts higher to but it made no difference for that. I proped up some pillows so I slept slightly up right. I did that so I could stretch my legs out . The truck burnt roughly 20litters of fuel in 7 hours of 1200 rpm ideling. It was a relitivley good sleep to. The only problem I had was when my dog decided the sleep on the gas peddle and rev the truck up. That got me out bed in a hurray :scare2:I'd sleep in the truck like that again any day
