Default Military 37s on a dually

I have searched and haven't found anything on here about this. I have 35s on my 02 now (315/70/17) and they are beat. I want to run the military 37/12.5/16.5 that came on HMMWVs. I picked up 6 dually rims that were supposed to be off and old dodge that are 16.5 but they have the acorn style recesses for the lugs. The center hole is 4.77 which is what I need. Is there a 16.5 dually rim out there with the proper lug style that I should be looking for?

How old of a dually are they from ? My 98 is only a 16" wheel, as for the lug style mine doesnt have acorns its got regular nuts on it.

I don't know the year. I think late 70s. But I don't think they will work. I think I need the hub centric 16.5 dually rims. I just don't know where to get them or what they came on.

If you can find them, for probably the last 5-6 years, the newer model HMMWV have been running 17 inch rims...could keep your 17s and still run the HMMWV tires. I believe they started with either the M1114 or the M1153 series...The old models, M998 and M1123 used the 16.5 unless they upgraded the rims on them too, which I don't know off the top of my head.

Where can you get the 17 inch ones? Are they about the same in price as the 16.5s. I never heard of them running 17s. All I remember were 16.5. I really wasn't paying much attention to my tires at the time though .

What do the acorn style recesses look like as opposed to the way your current rim's recesses look? Can you post pics of both?

I have a few one my phone but it won't let me upload them.

They have 4 acorn style recesses on one side and 4 on the other side, alternating. The style I currently have is the lug and washer style. I think I'm just going to order some guard dogs from treadwright for now until I track down the proper rims.

Oh ok, I understand the difference now. Lug nuts are not too expensive, can you find acorn style for your lug stud size?

I don't think that they will mount properly with just different lug nuts.
