2001 5.9
I have a 5.9 cummins 2001 tonner truck that quit on me. It was 20 below but I have been using no 1 diesel for a month. Anyway , I put it in a heated shop for 3 days, thawed it out completely and now it won't fire at all. I pulled the fuel filter out of it, which I had replaced the week prior. PUt some 911 deicer in just in case it was the weather. NOw it turns over and doesn't fire at all. I am thinking fuel pump. It sputtered for 30 seconds before it quit. What do you think??

Probably should get a couple gallons of fuel too just in case your fuel gauge has decided to quit on you.

Loosen #1 and #3 injector to let the air out of the lines ? And if it fires run out and tighten them up. If no fuel comes out I imagine your out of diesle or a bad lift pump

I have to crack #1, 3, and 4 on my truck. Just doing #1 and 3 won't work. Just my 2 cents!

No fuel to my fuel filter. Is there a fuel pump in the tank? My 96 V-10 had it in the tank? Not getting fuel
|
it will be on the drivers side of the block below and to the right of the fuel filter. if its in the stock location

I replaced the lift pump below the fuel filter and I am good to go. Bled the lines and away I go. Thanks for your help

Also just fyi your vp44 injection pump is lubricated by diesel... Therefore when there is no pressure to it it is not lubricated.. Shortening its lifespan... you should look inyo a fass or airdog aftermarket lift pump!!!! :tu:
