any alt will work long as it is rated for stock 136A+
|
my local option is autozone. maybe their alternators for our trucks arn't 136A+, but I have burned through two in a month. Thinkin about switiching to a "mean green" or something.

sounds like maybe you have another issue with your electrical system...
|
probably do...Now its so darn cold truck work has gotten impossible. Its beer drinking weather in CO :c:

had this prob.. heatergrid relay stuck open I replaced everything even the harness and pcm. still no charge then I unbolted the leads to the heater grid and wam everything came to life... its been unhooked for a year now. and at 400k starts up fine in 10 degree weather. hope this helps

my research had pointed to that so thanks for the extra info. moparman has an article on his site about this. I don't think that I could get away with unhooking mine. Yesterday I had to cold start with -25 windchill. I do need to fix this because my batteries arn't charging high enough to run my heater core a few times before starting. any info on a fix would be welcomed.

sounds like a short in the grid heater, or wiring to it..may need to replace it.
or possibly an ecm problem as the ECM should cut power to the grid heater and cycle it not allowing it to stay on constantly. |
