Dead Peddal?

I have a 2001 2500 cummins with a edge comp hot unlock. it works great when i dont have a dead pedal issue. this only has started to happen in the morning and at night when the temp gets down past 35 degrees. i did try taking the edge and unplugging it from the map sensor and putting it back to stock. also i have the codes p1693 which i beleive it is a companion code and p0237 which i think that is low boost fueling maybe? any help would be great

when my ip went out that was the first thing i had start happening. I would get dead pedal if it was 35 or colder, about a month after that i got the death code.

P0237 = MAP sensor voltage too low

may just be a bad MAP sensor.

thats what im thinking jigabop. i talked to a cummins guy around here and he asked for all the symptoms of a failing vp; such as hard starts or just long starts and i dont have neither. so therefor i dont think its the vp. how do you replace the map sensor

lauber_03 11-21-2013 04:13 PM

unplug the harness, unscrew the map sensor then replace with a new one. it's located behind where the stock fuel filter housing is.

it's on the drivers side of the head about center or just past the center of the engine.

i thought you had to splice it not unscrew it? and i went in and re did some wires on the comp where the guy before me spliced the edge ez into it. so that actually seemed to work and in 35 or less degrees... for a couple days then today driving home from work it started happening again and now i have the codes back plus the 0500. so now i have ECM: 1693, 0500 PCM: 1693, 0237 any help would be great

Don't buy a new map sensor yet. My truck was in limp mode one time and all i did was clean the map sensor havent had a problem since. I didn't wanna buy a brand new one there 177 dollars I believe!

How you'd clean

OlRed2ndGen 11-27-2013 07:55 AM

Took it of and submerged it in brake parts cleaner for 20 minutes or so.
