surging fuel pressure

my 2000 24 valve has an air dog 150 on it with the 1/2 in fuel line kit, it has always surged between 11 and 20 psi. it doesn't surge as much when I am pulling a heavy load. I was just wondering if this is normal or do I have something wrong ? the lift pump went bad in aug of this year and they replaced it and the original inj pump went out before the lift and I replaced it . all of this made no difference in the way the fuel pressure surges.
thanks for any help :s:

not normal. your airdog is defective.

I have a 4+ year old airdog that holds 20psi solid at idle, 18psi cruising at freeway speed, and 16psi at WOT unleashing the full 576hp...

I will contact Air Dog and see what they will do :jump:

Could be the regulator in the AirDog, but there is also a regulator in the return line of the VP44. Likely not the issue, but doesn't hurt to pull it out and have a look to see if there is something out of place with it. They are in the ball park of $30, and doesn't hurt to change them every couple years. I think it should be part of routine maintenance rather than fix as fail.

meh mine stays open 100% of the time in the vp44 :D

long as it stays open and constantly returns, then I'm good with it. I want fuel continuously flowing through it to keep that vp44 nice and cool and well lubricated. :pca1:

thanks guys, I will ck the valve in the vp before I call air dog
jigabop, what is your fuel pressure with that return valve open all the time ? :rocking:

jigabop 10-21-2013 04:02 PM

see post number 2 lol I posted my pressures for idle/cruise/WOT already.

any input pressure over 14psi will keep the vp44 return valve open.

16 is the lowest pressure my truck ever sees unless my fuel filters are starting to get clogged then it might drop 1psi or so across the scale which tells me it is time to change the filters, so then I order up some more fleetguard filters off of amazon and replace them :tu:

sorry jigabop, wasn't paying attention . I see the pressures and thank you very much for the help
