To good to be true? Trade a 92 dually for a 99?

Hey guys I have a quick question for all of you familiar with the 24 valve 2nd gens. I have my 92 dually up for sale or trade and last night had a guy offer to trade me his 99 dually. Just is about the same on both trucks. Mine has 150k on it and his has 187k on it. I found the 53 block sticky so I dont have to ask that, THanks for the sticky BTW! He has already replaced the injection pump, lift pump, and rebuilt the front end. He says he likes the 1st gen more so he is will to trade me straight across the board. Am I nuts for not taking the trade or is it possible there is something I need to know about this truck that is going to need some investigating? Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks guys!!

Depends.a lot of guys do like the simple 12v vs 24 v. If he doesn't gave receipts for all that work I'd pass.

I would suggest to meet the guy first without a decision made, look over EVERYTHING and make sure nothing stupid was done to the rig that would cost you a lot to fix. Mainly, see what kind of guy he is. Bring up burning out and see if he goes off on a tangent of how often he does them. A lot of guys I have met through the years will talk your ear off about all the performace mods they have done to the truck and what it can do, when most of the time they don't know anything about maintence and how to keep a diesel running reliably. If he seems like an idiot and full of show I probably wouldn't take the deal as he could have potentially been foolish and has melted the pistons, burnt the transmission and now is trying to part with it fast.

The main message I am getting across is to be aware of the situation and like stated above, see if he has recepts! But some guys do like the 1st gens more, and potentially can be a great opportunity for the both of you with both great trucks. Just be careful.

Like all has already said, some guys Just like the 1st gens better, and the 1st simplistic design. But just be cautious. Heck tell him you would like to have it checked out by a diesel mechanic. offer to him to have yours checked out as well.
Like mentioned it could be a good trade for both parties involved. but just check it out really good.
