Did I blow it changing fuel filter

I changed my fuel filter today, when I was done I turnd the key forward and tried to prime the system, ( I didn't bump the starter):argh: sh*t. So I turned It forward 3 times the started the truck , it ran for 5 seconds and died.:argh::argh: My grand father in law was with me and he said turn it over till it started again , I should have known better but I did it .... No start , I cracked open an injector line open and primed it properly then it started Did I damage my ip letting it die like that at first and cranking it while dry?

P.s. my lift pumps in the tank

Don't worry no damage was done. Damage is done when you run it dry at higher rpms.

Its going to die every time you change your filter because you just introduced air to your fuel system. So if it dies after you change the filter dont fret. Either keep bumping the starter then cranking, or crack the injectors. Gennerally I can get mine to start after two bumps and several cranks and then let it run a 1400 RPM to run the rest of the air out.

I noticed it ran rough for ten seconds then smoothed out. I figured it was the air leaving the system
