Default 99 for $500 yes or no?

I have the chance to get a 1999 3500 Cab and Chasis for $500. It has 350,000 Mi, solid axle two wheel drive, NV4500, regular cab, and the bed is over 11ft long. It doesnt run but will hit on either. It has an intank pump that has gone out. It has been sitting for about a year and a half to two years and ran when it was parked.

$500 bones for a cummins?! that is a steal! running or not.

even if it has a cracked 53 block you could still part that **** out and make several grand on it...

Thats exactly what i was thinking what about the no start tho? Should i worry about the VP44 being out and hope that a fass will get it going again?
Either way wether i part it out or get it running and drive it for a while and sell it I should make some money correct?

definitely! hell you buy it for 500, and I'll buy the motor off you for $500 right now still got the rest of the truck to make money on and you are out no cash!

If the IP is out, which is a possibility... if you do the work yourself it will cost you around $1100-1200 for an injection pump.

first things first get the lift pump working and get a fuel pressure gauge on there, and prime the system before you try cranking it over again...running that IP with no fuel in it will burn it up.

Haha Thank you for making me spend my money! If the fass will get it going again i will have about a truck with about $1100 that can sell for $4000 easy enough. If the engine turns out to be solid i might go ahead and swap it in a jeep and use the powertrain from the truck and do some heavy reinforcing to the frame... oh the trouble i could get in with a monster like that!

you're gonna want some heavy duty springs and a boxed frame on a jeep if you are going to put that heavy diesel into it...

motor weighs over double what a v8 swap would weigh...

Hahaha it is one of my grandfathers old company trucks. Tomorrow I'm going to talk to him and see when I can get it! The last guy he had driving it didn't take care of it tho he checked the oil once in a blue moon and never changed it in the 2 years he drove it. I also think that when he did add oil he poured it on the head and hoped it soaked in! But I think it will be a good project truck I have only had a QSL 8.3 torn down to bare block and now i see a good opertunity to have a 5.9 down to a bare block. Also if the pocket book will allow it that would be the perfect time for a set of monotherm pistons and a good set of rods and bearings.
