Aftermarket Tranny

Heres the deal. I took the transmission out of my 2001 2500 cummins and now i need some advice on what i should rebuild my stock tranny with. I have 150 over injectors, fass 150 lift pump,Edge Juice w/Attitude, stock turbo and an AFE cold air intake. I want it built enough so i dont blow my transmission out again but i dont want to be spending a fortune on it. my price range is around $2500. Any ideas?

Triple disk convertor, pack it with as many friction plates as you can, Transgo shift kit, modify the valve body to bump up the line pressure. Did that on my 47re and the guy that built it said it'll handle 600hp/900lbft without any problems. My bill with his labor was right around $3k.

would a bigger tranny cooler help?

Well lets just say it wouldn't hurt, but I have a trans temp guage on my pillar pod and even when towing my 4000# gooseneck up mountains at highway speed I never see it go over 165.

ok what about input shafts?

From what my tranny guy said you don't really need to worry about them at mild power levels, but if you are looking to push 1000+ lb/ft then you would want to put them in. For the record, he has built up almost 100 47/48re's and never had a failure as long as the guy was honest with him on expected power levels, so I trust what he tells me.

ok thanks for the input

No problem just make sure the friction plates are a solid surface and not the waffle pattern like the stockers are, it'll be streetable and very reliable I've got 30k miles on the rebuild without a hiccup.
