dead on start up

I am puzzled on this one and am out of things to look at or try so I am thinking that it is something small that I am overlooking.

I have a 2000 3500 5.0 completely stock. Probably about a year ago is would crank over and start but got slower and slower until one day it just stopped. (luckily I was at home). I have gone over everything from fuses, batteries, relays, ignition switch and battery cables and still nothing. I have been hotwiring my truck by running a battery hot wire and solenoid wire into the cab to start it that way. Everything else works, turn the key to acc and all is good but then turn it to start and nothing so I touch the wires and I am off!

Today I checked the voltage of the solenoid wire when in the start position and I am getting 12 volts but it will not kick it over. I also dug into the relay and here is what I get when I tested it

pin 86 - Power only when key is in start position
pin 85 - Power only when gear selector is on P,D,2,1. No Power in P, N
pin 30 - Power when key is on start position.

any ideas? I am thinking a ground but checked and cleaned all of them and nothing changes.

Thank you for your help..:argh:

I would start checking the wiring going from the ignition switch to the starter, i mean by looking at all the wires, maybe a broken wire, corrosion, or maybe something shorting out the ignition side of the ignition switch. This is a stumper:humm:
