Probably a head gasket, but it could be a cracked block. I re-read your post about 9 times and could only understand about 1/8 of it....

that sounds like a head gasket or cracked block, check ur oil level.

what about the simple thermostat or a gummed up radiator back side. Ed

Mine was a coked head gasket from too many shots at 1500F as shown on the pyro.
It had a crack from the #3 rocker oil port to the head bolt then on the other side, a crack from that head bolt to the nearby coolant passage. It would leak about 1 cup of oil/hour into the cooling system.

Use an engine hoise to remove and re-install the head and take the head to an engine machine shop and have it milled dead flat...stock milling was extremely rough cut. Installed the "upgraded" head gasket at Cummins. Should be able to get one at your local Freightliner dealer too.
After flushing with water with the thermostat removed, I locked in the throttle at 1800rpm then added 1 cup Cascade Dishwasher powder into the radiator. It soon overflowed foam and oil for a few seconds then subsided.
I kept adding Cascade and foam/oil overflowing until it quit overflowing foam/oil...took the whole box. I ran it another 20 minutes then flushed with clean water. After the water showed clean, I stopped the motor and let it cool off a few hours. After cooling, I siphoned all the water I could with some 1/4" copper tubing down the radiator as far as it would go and pulled a little over 2 gallons out. I added 3 gallons new antifreeze and topped off with clean water....9 months ago with no problems.

Found my post with pics at DieselRam...
