EDGE COMP HELP

I recently picked up an edge comp box from a friend, now when i hooked the box up i can only get level 4x4 to light up and when i tapped the pump there was no noticeable gains. Is there a difference between the 30300 and 30301. Thanks for any help fellas!

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Does anyone know the difference between the 30300 and 30301!?

BarryB 05-16-2013 09:30 PM

30300 is for 98.5 -00 the 30301 is for the 01 02 but you need the adapter for an 02.

Bruce24Valver 05-16-2013 09:50 PM

Well i picked up a 30300, and mines an 01 but everything connected properly. It would only go to level 4x4 on the lights. As soon as i tapped my pump my vp sh*t the bed!? I just replaced my vp, thinking of selling the comp and getting a smarty with 100 horse injectors. Any thought would help out!!

what you should do is get the smarty it has the best down low power for sure do doubt. Then you stack it with a tst powermax 3. This is the setup i run and let me tell you it woke my truck right up all the low end from the smarty and tons of top end from the tst pulls hard.

Bruce24Valver 05-26-2013 01:47 AM

I am trying to get rid of the edge box as we speak. I like the idea of the smarty, because its doesnt involve tapping my pump.. which i just put in last week, and if i tap the pump or use a stealth plate they will void my warranty! I appreciate the advice, seems like you are running a set up that i am strongly considering!! Only thing holding me back is my stock 47re.

Al31031 05-26-2013 05:13 PM

Oooooowwww yeah hmmmmm :humm::humm: well my advice would be, do the stack with smaller injectors run the stack settings in the basement so you don't fry that tranny and when the time comes for a tranny sell those smaller injectors and put in some bigger sticks and crank the stack :jump:

I like the way you think, thats what i was thinking, maybe a set of 75s and a smarty, when the trannies done (atleast a tc and vb), dump the 75s and get some 125s and the tst. The nice thing is i am running a deep cooling pan and temp sensor. Thanks for all your help! :c:

Likes the smarty over the edge when it comes to the Dodges

Do you recommend 70rwhp as opposed to 120+rwhp

Agreed.

BBD Tech Support 05-28-2013 10:53 PM

That is pretty much a personal preference. Me personally I like maxing out anything I drive. Whether I'm in the SRT8 or the Cummins. I don't try to get in to recommending what setting someone should use.

Edge Comp is better than a Smarty on the 98.5-02 Cummins. The only good from a Smarty is that it lowers torque management. But it will also kill a non built transmission.

if your only going with the edge than yes but if your gonna stack it with the tst i disagree, my buddy has the same truck i do year color tranny everything his comp against my tst smarty no comparison i walked all over him on the low end and pulled way harder up to especially around 65-100!!!!

I tried every combo out there.
Smarty alone will only give you maybe 70 to the tires. Smarty with injectors will give you around 1/4 of what injectors and drag comp or tst will. Drag comp with smarty will give you about 20 to 60 less HP than drag comp alone (in high power applications over 500). Tst smarty combo came up around 90 horse below comp alone. Around 110 less on the bottle.

ROFL.
My point was that the smarty in vp applications only makes 70hp MAX.

i dont understand how i could be running 90 less hp that him but still walk all over his truck?:humm:

You may make more power at the beginning of the graph but I bet money if you tried both setups you will make less power with the smarty tst combo.
Tried it on a few trucks and all provided the same result.

but i kill him all around bottom mid and top end i figure with almost a 100 extra horse it would be noticable ya know?

You should re read my post. 90 horse is in high horse applications (over 500).
It will be less with most applications. As far as you out pulling his truck that could be weight, gearing, vp issues etc.
put em on the dyno and you'll know for sure. Not saying I'm right, just saying I've seen it countless times just at the dyno day we had here, I couldn't imagine you're truck would be one out of 100. But who knows.

Something like that would typically make 475-575 from my experience. The big deciding feature will be the injectors IMO. I can tell you my fuel only pulls with mach 6's consistently made 595-600 with a drag comp, while with a cheaper injector of the same power rating was 550-575. While brand may not effect anything the way they set them up does.

Well i am still running the stock 47re, but i have a deep cooling pan and temp sensor. I am pretty light on the go pedal, i am looking to pick up a little extra Hp and fuel economy and some smoke. I think the smarty will grenade my trans being it hits so hard down low. So i was thinking of an edg ez and maybe 75 horse sticks until i can build the trans. Any input is appreciated gents!

Al31031 05-29-2013 08:05 PM

well you can just set the smarty up so you dont grenade the tranny.

Bruce24Valver 05-29-2013 09:39 PM

I never thought about that.
