Fuel mpg

Hey guys I was just wondering how much fuel mileage increase would I get if I went from a 4.11 gear to a 3.73 ratio? Would it be worth the Doe or no?? Cuz on the ole hwy I only get 22 at 70 mph at about 2150 rpms but off it I get about 25 thanks guys

RamHORN 05-02-2013 12:14 AM

you could gain a little. but not enough where your going to be saving your a lot on fuel. it also depends on your trans gear ratios as well as your axle.

what kind of increase are you aiming for?

CoalRoller92 05-02-2013 06:15 AM

Around 25 on the hwy

Dock 05-02-2013 06:08 PM

Damn better mileage than I'm getting at only 18 at 70. I would be thrilled to see 20 at that speed with my 4.11s. What's your secret man? Maybe the EJWA??? What trans???

CoalRoller92 05-02-2013 07:22 PM

Is your rig SWR or Dually? 2wd or 4wd? Actually 22 mpg is pretty decent IMO. What mods do ya have? Fill out your signature with truck info and mods, if any.
That will help other readers with advice for you. I get 23mpg in my rig (see my signature for modest mods) on the hwy. Thats at 65 mph. I dont usually drive any faster than that. I have 3.73 gears. My lie-o-meter overhead indicates 26mpg, but corrected mpg calculation with my "Garmin" indicates a very consistent 23mpg. My truck is 2wd, so that probably helps. Im happy with that :yeah:

CoalRoller92 05-03-2013 01:06 PM

I do have it in my signature it don't always show up tho my overhead is pretty accurate it's maybe 1 mile at the most I've did the math and was surprised that it was that close it has mbrp cool duals volant cai edge JWA 4.11 gears

Dock 05-03-2013 04:15 PM

I would say, count your blessings with that mileage the gear you are running and an auto.

Bigg Redd 05-03-2013 04:38 PM

Your fuel mileage is pretty damned good for what ya got. Like Dock says, count your blessings. Most with 4.10s dont get near those numbers.

CoalRoller92 05-03-2013 09:46 PM

I baby the heck outta her to get that mpg the reason why I was asking is cuz I drive about 110 miles a day

Bigg Redd 05-04-2013 09:42 PM

:tu: :c:

When I travel from Wisconsin to Tennessee, I will normally see 22-23 mpgs. I also am running 3.55's for gears. So if you are getting those numbers; like above you are doing pretty darn good!

CoalRoller92 05-05-2013 06:05 PM

Ok thanks guys I guess the ole girl is treating me right then

i live up in the north east. i have a 2002 ho 6speed manual ecsb with 4.10s and 4x4, all the mods in my signature. in winter i get 16mpg consistently, i have been getting way better now thats it been warm for a few weeks up here. i have been hitting 16.5 but i have been towing the goose neck trailer alot. last week i towed over 200 miles through the hills and naples with the goose neck loaded up with prob about 5 to 6k on it. and i still got 16.5. my fuel sender is shot and i havent put the new one in yet so i cautiously filled up when i hit 350 miles and i didnt believe it only took 21 gallons. i was in shock! so i put another gallon in it because i thought it might have been a big bubble in the tank. filled it till i could visually see standing fuel in the fuel neck. i was very impressed with that. wonder what i can do unloaded now.
