What do you mean "shift out of low"
It won't come out of first gear after being in reverse?
yes it won,t up shift stays in 1st gear, i park it overnite and its ok the next day. thanks for replie

Check your TV cable(throttle valve) it controls something to do with shifting mine gets stuck and won't let my trans shift sometimes
Scanned it for codes?
yes scaned for codes, none will check tv cable thanks for info. thought about getting a new truck. but i really like this truck. it has about 210,000 miles on it and the only repairs have been a alt. lift pump, brakes, shocks, reg. maintence, and a seat belt relay. oh and a crank sensor. thanks will let you know if i find prob.:s:

Getting a new one just because of a shifting issue sounds silly to me. If you need a whole trans job after figuring it out, different story. A have a buddy, well...maybe not much of one anymore, who sold his truck and bought a new one because of an external coolant leak from his head gasket. Same guy that wouldn't shut up about how much he loves his truck. He is a mechanic to make the story more sad!
Speedometer works? If you have a pal with a scanner, watch gov pressure and see what it is like. Could just be a sensor, or solenoid. |
My 47RE will duplicate this issue as well. When the trans is any warmer than 140F and after I reverse with any throttle abpve idle, the next forward drive the trans will stay in 1st. To work around this I either back up at idle only or while in neutral quickly pump throttle to 100% I can feel what I think is TV cable bind very lightly. Prir to my rebuild I could not get any throttle In Reverse when warm as above. Sorry I don't have a real solution yet. My trans guy is having a look and ill post the repair then. It's likely a valve body circuit issue as it only happens while the vehicle is running and only when warm. Typically my trans runs 115F and is fine.
