Help

My 2001 2500 is leaking oil from the turbo. The turbo itself has very very little play in it. Does this mean i need a new turbo or do i have more problems than just the turbo?

im no expert on turbos but i would assume that a bad seal would cause the oil leak from the turbo. i would also guess that it does not necessarily mean you will have very bad shaft play. maybe you just need a new seal.

Ok is there anything else it could be?

Turbo bearings and/or seals failed. Typically caused from hot shutdowns or excessively high EGT's and overheating the bearings.

My suggestion to you is park the truck till you either rebuild the turbo or replace it. If the oil leak becomes big enough you'll have a engine runaway and it can cause serious damage to the engine. I've already seen the damage done to a local truck. :w2:
