nv4500 shaft play?

hey, just wondering if there should be any shaft play between the input and tail shaft? i have about a 1/4'' of play left to right.

I would have to say there is bearing issues.

So I'm guessing there should be zero play? And could it be just the bearing on the input shaft? I don't want too rip it completely apart.

Thing about it... The input shaft rides in the pilot bearing and on the input shaft bearing. Then its got a sliding clutch plate on the splines. Now assume the clutch material is not exactly perfect in balance. So what do you thing will happen when you rev that engine up press the clutch pedal on have the free spinning mass? It going to jump all around on that input bearing as well as trying to tweak the pilot bearing. I would suggest in replacement. :humm:

It's doesn't have any shaft play like a turbo would have. I'm talking about the rotational movement/play it has meeting up with the trail shaft and other gears inside. There's no more then a 1/4" of it back and forth. If I hold the tail shaft and rotate the input back and forth.
