I've put on over 100K miles of Idaho dirt road hauling firewood for close to 7 years on the first filter and absolutely a spotless turbo compared to S&B, K&N, AFe or any other washable media filter. Washable filer will do you no good if it passing dirt to the engine.

Little more on this form my article.

You can go with either 2790 or 6673.
The 2790 is the one in the picture I put on here. Bigger than the 6673 I believe.

And with how big it is I can't see how the 6673 would fit if it was bigger

Didn't think it was bigger haha

And the 2790 is also a napa number, she's a big burly b*****d
really lets her breather. And it was a little more spendy.

Hey 24vcumminsdiesel! I've got the factory box and hose with a K&N filter already in it. It's already in a box ready to ship if you want it. I have no idea what they're going for so how about $75.00 shipped? You don't have a sig so I don't know what truck you have but this filter assembly is off of my 2001 RAM 2500 24V Cummins. Let me know!

K&N like all oiled filters, are no bueno.

I had the K&N drop in on mine, took it off for my BHAF and there was a rather annoying amount of oil on the turbo from it suckin off the filter.

Just something you should know bud

24vcumminsdiesel, just remember, opinions are like...well you know the rest.

Anyway, oiled filters are very effective as long as they are cared for properly. Most people tend to over-oil their filters when they clean them. If properly oiled, the oil will remain in the filter and not be sucked into your turbo no matter how much air is passing through it. I never experienced oil in my turbo as AlaskanRenegade did with his. I have the oiled element in my S&B CAI and still have no oil in my turbo even after 236,000+ miles of having oiled filters on my Cummins! I'm still on the stock HX35 and it's still making 35 lbs. of boost at WOT! (I have it limited to 35 lbs. as the HX35 starts losing boost efficiency after that.) It just takes proper care when maintaining your filter. Besides, you can either retain the K&N (it's PROPERLY cleaned and oiled) or replace it with the non-oiled element of your choice should you decide you want to buy my air box.

Still there is a factor even toughtoy4x4 can't measure. How do you know after X amount of times the Y filter is still holding up Z micron rating?

99.9% of all washable filter do break down every time you wash the media. So when do you know its time to toss it in the trash because the media is to far gone? I rather not even mess with it. These is no test for the end user nor a way of knowing...

Mopar1973Man is absolutely correct that washable filter media breaks down over time. Just look in your closet at your favorite old t-shirt that isn't as thick as it used to be and maybe has little holes in the armpits. Logic dictates that if your air filter starts looking like that t-shirt, it's time to replace the element. That also applies to the non-washable media filter elements. I've replaced my washable elements a couple of times. The K&N in the air box I'm selling is the second one in that box. The S&B element I presently have is also the second one in my present system.

It's great that the guys using the BHAF are having good results but it only proves there's more than one way to skin a cat. Many guys will tell you that the solutions they're using are either the best or the only way. In some cases, this may be true. For instance, many CF and DB members like Mopar1973Man have actually done the research by trial and error, experimentation, and empirical data collection. It's difficult to refute their findings. But still, they report, you decide. Personally, I've learned a lot from guys like Mike, and used some of their solutions. I'm extremely grateful for the time they've spent learning the things they have and then sharing that knowledge! However, in most cases, the guys giving you advice need to validate their own choices by presenting them as the absolute solution to your particular problem or project even though they've not made any effort past buying something they've read about then applied it to their trucks. I can only tell you what has worked for me. I'll never tell you it's the only way or even the best way. That you have to decide for yourself.

Where I get my data is asking the million mile truck owners what they run. If they can clear 1 million miles then you know the products and driving style works.

But your absolutely right they have to choose there product and make there own decisions of what products work and what products don't... All I can do is tell you what works for million mile rigs...
