P0230 Code Help??
So I have my 99 cummins and this code came up Wednesday night backing into my driveway. Got worried since it said transfer pump out of range and had read up on the code. Well I only had a small carter pump in line from previous owner and went ahead and bought a FASS system and installed it last night to ensure I dont run my VP dry with a failure.
My question, my stock lift pump is bypassed so what do I need to do to get the light to stay off? Thanks ahead of time guys |
This is a electrical code that was caused by either a short in the pump or something open in the harness, you shouldn't have to do anything to keep the light off as long as the computer is seeing the right readings(ohms) assuming your using the factory harness. If the light keeps coming on good chance its not the pump since its brand new that would lead to me believe something is open in the harness. I have a excellent thread diognosing the po230 code if i can find it I'll post it up for ya

i had that code and it was a ground wire on the pass side on the - battery post and the wire was broke it twould read sometimes and sometimes not check the grounds
|
What ground wire was it blacksally? I looked and checked all connections, still have the check engine light on and have my FASS Running fine so I dont know what to do... any help
|
Driver side battery ground controls ECM and VP44.
Passenger Side covers the PCM. Lift pump ground is behind the starter on the block. |
Did you clear the code with a scanner and then the code came back?

Oh! I totally forgot to post the link of the diagnostics...

mine was the wire on pass side battery it has a black wire with a connector then to battery the eye hole or what ever u call the end was broke and the pump would work then shut down i had a no bus in the trip window etc its been good ever since i put a new end on it

????
This is everything on the PCM and the passenger side battery ground... http://articles.mopar1973man.com/ima...Wiring-Pg1.jpg http://articles.mopar1973man.com/ima...Wiring-Pg2.jpg Now the driver side battery ground, ECM and the VP44 are tied to this ground. Also you'll see the lift pump ground is to the block at this put separate from the main grounds. http://articles.mopar1973man.com/ima...Wiring-Pg3.jpg |
