Troubles starting in the morning.

I have a 1999 5.9 cummins and if it sits for more thatn one day i have to crank it 5-6 times to get it to fire. But through out the week when i drive it everyday it starts first or second crank, usually first crank. I thought it might have something to do with the cold temps. has been in the single digits the past few days, but I think it is fuel related somehow. My driveway is uphill and the truck sits uphill would that have something to do with it? Anyone have a good place to start?

What type of cranking speed you have? With that low of temp i would look at the batteries first.

cranking speed? pretty sure its not the batteries cause they are less than a month old and during cranking they never drop below 11 volts and running they are at 14.6. Could it be possible air in a fuel line? Im gonna change oil and fuel filter this weekend. I have onlt had the truck a month

I just mention because diesels require quite a bit of amperage to power the grid heaters and starter. Its not abnormal to have a slight extended crank time, the less amperage the battery is able to produce, the longer the crank time. If your having to start the truck multiple times (assuming actual crank time is 15-25 seconds) then you could possibly have issues. A loss of prime would generally show its ugly head within a few hours of shutdown, not after days.
Has the truck been serviced recently?
Considering you just got the truck it might be a good time to check fuel pressure.

generally i try to crank it for 5 seconds... and i do need to update my profile cause the truck has an edge juice with atitude and the digital fp gauge while idling is between 13-15 and crusing down the road at 55 iit is 10-12

You might cycle the key a few times before starting and see if it improves. Could you get a video of what your having happen?
