recommendation on replacement heavy duty front end parts
The truck in my signature needs some front end work. I just got it. I knew the original owner. 80k original gentle miles. As I was adding a Hell Bent Leveling spacer kit and cool bilstein 5100's, I noticed some front end wear during a pre installation inspection. Plus, the tires are shot and it also needs an alignment (pulls right, and is wearing the outside front passenger tire), so it was kinda obvious too. At a minimum, it needs upper and lower ball joints, idler control arm, might do the center link too. They are not horrible, but I figure I better just do it all anyway prior to the alignment. Plus, I'll be putting new, larger tires on it. Since I just installed a leveling kit and bigger tires are coming, I don't want the dreaded death wobble, so I'd like to address the front end, do it right, and have it aligned, etc.
A lot of these aftermarket replacement parts are horrible, and they vary in quality and price too. Also, the OEM stuff didn't last too long either, So... Anyone have any recommendations on heavy duty or good quality replacement parts? |
MOOG are a good part I believe and there is another company around here that makes good parts. A good trackbar is either a 3rd generation track bar which would need to be modifed. Or to buy an adjustable track bar. Also if you grease your ball joints, and tie rods and trac bar they will last longer. 2 or 3 pumps with the ole grease gun every oil change will keep them going for much much longer. people now adays seem to think grease zerts mean nothing... Also longer control arms will ease the strain on your ball joints that you now have added to putting the leveling kit on. and it will recenter the axel.

Cheapest place I've found to get the mopar 52122362AF kit is amazon or ebay.

One more thing to consider is a steering box brace. I got mine off ebay for $100. You might not notice a big difference with it on yours but when I had a 6" lift and 38s on mine the brace made huge difference. Really tightened up the steering.

If I remember correctly, MOOG has lifetime warranty. Definitely consider warranty when making your purchase.

upgrade the track bar to an 03' and up ball and socket joints suck i'm already $2500 into it. moog for every thing else. i had the death wobble and ended up replacing everything
