Turbo talk?

Is there a typical life expectancy for a stock turbo unit? Any preventative maintenance?

Clean air, clean oil, and warm ups and cool downs will make your turbo last the longest. A typical life expectancy is hard to say. It all depends on how the turbo was treated. Stock turbo, stock truck, well taken care of could last a million miles.

My dad's truck, 05 dodge cummins, has just under 400k, hard miles on it. still on stock turbo with no issues......and he works the piss out of it. He uses syn oil and good BHAF.

just curious could you explain the proper "warm ups" and "cool down" for the turbo thanks

not super sure what a fellow could do for warming up a turbo except to not wind it without oil pressure, but the cool down is important. idle for a minute or two before you shut down, that will cool the turbo a bit and help from coking the oil in the housing.

cooler than 300-350 if you have a pyro.

42psi is as high as i have gotten my stock hx35 to go up to. and that with just what i have in my signature. but in order to reach the 42psi i have to be running a more aggressive tune on the quad adrenaline
